I WANT THAT PROBLEM

WHAT IS CONSIDERED A PROBLEM?

What is a problem? Wikipedia.com defines it this way.

A problem is an issue or obstacle which makes it difficult to achieve a desired goal, objective or purpose. It refers to a situation, condition, or issue that is yet unresolved. In a broad sense, a problem exists when an individual becomes aware of a significant difference between what actually is and what is desired.

Is it possible that what is problem for one person, may be welcomed by another?

I spent most of my day today at the hospital, the normal routine. Checking in and seated in the waiting room waiting to be called. They call me to the back chemo area and there I waited for the nurse to come and access the port in my chest for my lab work. I was in a wonderful mood and was sharing my business with the staff. I looked around the room and not one of the patients looked thrilled to be there. Of course not, they are sitting here hooked up to chemo and would rather be sommewhere else doing something else with their life. Not listening to me hyped up about my business. Even though I am there for the same problem they are. The problem is the cancer, the current solution is the chemo. I'm sure a problem nobody wants. After about 2 1/2 hours at the hospital I was on my way home enjoying the beautiful sunny day. I come up to a stop light and notice cars in my lane backing-up. I look up and I see a huge yacht being pulled by one of those big rigs that have "wide load" on it with a smaller truck in front of and behind it to guide it through traffic. I notice that they are having a real problem trying to make the turn at the light to come down the street I'm on. So the cars in front of me now have to back up to make room for the truck to make his turn. I immediately put my car in reverse and start to go bacwards also.

While all of this is taking place I am thinking in my mind boy, I wish that was my problem, I have this beautiful yacht that I have had out on the Pacific Ocean(I live in Washington State) and now I am transporting it back to the Pugent Sound to be docked. I look at the gentleman driving and he has a look of disgust and concern. Somewhat like the people that were at chemo today. I thought to myself, wow this is a problem for that driver/owner. How I would love to have his problem. Then all sorts of problems started to run through my head, of issues that people have that they see as a problem.

Perhaps it is, the maid didn't show up to clean the house today. Maybe it could be, the house chef called and won't be able to cook Christmas dinner because his mother died and now you'll have to cook your own. Or maybe your beach front summer home has some water damage from the last storm that hit. These are all real problems that some "fortunate" people have, but I am here to tell you I would love to have those problems. It would mean that I have the resources to resolve those problems. What one man may see as a problem another man may view as a welcomed issue or situation. Can you imagine hearing a woman in a phone call with her bestfriend saying "I have a problem, I don't know if I should wear my one carat diamond earrings tonight or the 2 carat".? Each person views their situation ("problem") as just that a problem. For another it may be a welcomed problem. What if your problem was, do I buy the BMW or the AUDI? Wouldn't we all love to have that problem to have to ponde over that for a couple of hours or days. In the same respect what if your problem was "do I take the chemo for my cancer or do I take my chances and skip it?" That may require some days of pondering.

I spend a lot of my time anymore, observing people and how they react to situations or problems. What they see as a problem. I think many of us fail to realize the difference in what is truly a problem and what is a situation. For me a situation is what you get into and can find a way out of. A problem on the other hand may not have a resolve. If someone loses a loved one and they had things that were "unresolved", that could be a life long problem that will never be resolved. Every life is full of obtacles, just like the obstacle course itself. I would welcome some of lifes problems with a smile on my face. I guess it depends where you are in life, where you've been, and where you want to go. I want the problem of getting my yacht back home, and I'm working hard to make that a problem of mine. Keep smiling.
